Palimpsest Projections: Collaborative Portraits

Watch video here.

Palimpsest Projections is a direct outgrowth of the Contemporary Archeology Series of prints and intaglio collages.

Where Contemporary Archeology is a collection of data from many authors deposited onto a single surface, Palimpsest Projections is the documentation and projection of that visual field onto a large wall surface or canvas. Participants are asked to selectively trace the projection, either individually or in groups.

A Palimpsest Projection collaborative drawing is the action which is implicit in the viewing of the Contemporary Archaeology series; it is the performance and active expression of its viewers.

Each drawing is executed with a specific demographic and a specific rule set. Some are created one contributor at a time in the studio. Others have been undertaken as groups in institutional and private venues.
